Mariah's Album Pushed Back (Again)

According to the most recent edition of Billboard Magazine, Mariah Carey's still untitled new album will not be released 'first quarter' of this year as previously announced; the set will instead drop second quarter of 08 (anytime from April onwards). The album was initially meant to hit stores late last year, however was pushed back. {Source}

I'm starting to think this Mariah / Janet dropping at the same time scenario (as Jermaine Dupri proposed) isn't likely to happen and I think it makes sense. You can't have artist of that magnitude releasing records at the same time - one will end up looking lesser than the other.

What's your view?

As soon as I saw that Janet's single was online and that her album was set for February, I KNEW that Mariah's was gonna get pushed back. They're both on Def Jam now, and they can't have two of the biggest females in music history go up against one another! They want them both to succeed, which is smart (especially for Janet's sake).

I just can't wait to hear what Mariah has on this album, should be interesting to hear cause it's been awhile since "Mimi" was released in 2005.

Well, I can tell that Janet Jackson is not to be fucked with this time around, so alot of artist might need to push back because "Feedback" is going to another #1 hit for Janet Jackson, the biggest pop station in New York, Z100 is playing this song in heavy rotations and they love it. I was told that most of the pop stations have this song on heavy rotation and it has not officially been released to radio as of yet!! we all know that Janet is the best female dancer in the music industry well hell she is the best dancer in the music industry other than her brother Michael, so Janet really has the entire package where as Mariah can just sing, but Janet entertains baby!! The song Feedback is already #9 on I-tunes Pop and #26 on I-tunes overall and it was just released to I-tunes last thursday, so this is going to be a bonified hit for Janet!!! When Janet gets in this mode every one needs to watch out because she knows how to deliver!!!

Well, I don't really feel "Feedback" as a great hit. As a matter of fact I like Britney's "Gimme More" a lot more than this one...

And I don't know how people can FEEL the "entertainer" while listening to the radio. And what do you mean by "she (Mariah) can ONLY sing"? Does Janet DANCE on the radio? Do you see her DANCE or something? :) When you listen you just hear the music and the (only) singing and get some emotions about it.

Concerning MARIAH , I just CAN'T WAIT to hear her new material but I think that she doesn't have it complete yet. She had this long pause and now she's trying to give the best of her in this album so it's gonna be a lot of planning on exactly which songs will end up in the record, and I guess she's making some editting and rerecording. So I didn't really expect her new album to come out much long before her birthday. We'll have to wait some more time I guess but it would be worth it.

You are sorely wrong. Mariah can not ONLY Sing she compòses and is a extremely crafted composer, producer and musician. Meanwhile janet can only depend on pthers (this time even more as we divered "Feedback" is completely done by others and she is being pushed more and more to the botom by ham boufriend JD). Don't dream, Janet is no competition for Mariah and has never been. She never was in Mariah's League. Madonna and Celine definetely but Janet nope, no way. That said. I sooo hope janet gets more credit and some of the media blocking is lift. That is janet's real problem, the media censorship, not mariah.

Mariah's not pushing her album back because she's "afraid" of Janet! Her and Janet are on the same record label people! Def Jam isn't going to put out two of their biggest artists in the same month when they want them both to succeed...they're gonna give each of them time to achieve greatness with their albums.

May I also remind you that Mariah pushed back the "Mimi" album about 4 times before it's actual release because she was perfecting the album and we ALL know how that turned out...became the biggest selling album of the year, 10 million sold worldwide, spawned the biggest hit of her career and brought her back to superstardom...I suggest you don't count Mariah Carey out, EVER!

Considering the way that Mariah SINGS and the way that she LOOKS, I think she can afford that... :) It's more than enough. She doesn't have to fall on her back on the stage and kick with her legs in the air like Beyonce did once... :) Though I like Beyonce too.
