Check out the list below of who the network's panel (MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust) consider to be the top 10 MCs right now. The main criteria when compling the list was simply MCs who have been prominent within the last year. The list...

9. André 3000 (#4 in 2007)
8. Young Jeezy (#6 in 2007)
7. Lupe Fiasco (not on 2007’s list)
6. 50 Cent (#8 in 2007)
5. Snoop Dogg (not on 2007’s list)
4. Rick Ross (not on 2007’s list)
3. Lil Wayne (#1 in 2007)
2. Jay-Z (#7 in 2007)
1. Kanye West (#5 in 2007)

Hmm...I personally feel they generally have the right(ish) set of names on the list, however the individual charting of the MCs is definitely questionable...

i wouldn't put 50 on the 1st spot but he makes good music. i think the top three should have had weezy, TIP and Lupe fiasco. jay-z is also good but his beats are too noisy and i find it difficult to understand what he is saying. rosss and jeezy i don regard u guys as mcees. and yeah where is common?

How is Rick Ross on the list and Luda was left off?! Snoop needs to drop down to number 8..he playing out! Wake up! And 50 cent should Definately be listed before Rick Ross and Snoop! what a joke! He is at least No.4.!!! Not too sure why Andre 3000 still gets honorable mention..i say be respectful and replace him with Luda. Who would you call up to drop a verse on your track..Luda or Andre 3000?
