SCAM! Def Jam is signing all these chicks to slowly rid Rihanna of possible competition. They just sign on all of these singers and then refuse to promote them like their Bajan princess. I call bullshit on this, unless they prove me wrong.

I think Amerie has been in the game and screwed over enough to be smarter then that. Theres no denying that Def Jam is the label to make you a success but thats if you do what they say so it will be interesting to see what she comes up with. Ive always seen Amerie as very original and true to herself and dont think that will change.

I love Amerie but I'm not sure if this is a good move. Yes, Def Jam did make Rihanna into a big star but she is also the only one they promote besides Ne-Yo. Great artists like Megan Rochell, Bobby Valentino, and Shareefa fell by the wayside as far as promotion.Heck even Teairra Mari had potential but they didn't market her right at all. They can't even promote Janet and that should be easy because she already has a built in fanbase. Good luck to her though...she's going to need it to compete for the same attention as that studio artist Rihanna.

IMO i think rihanna is much more talented then Amerie, everyone hates on rihanna and i don't see why the only reason they have to hate is because she's talented,beautiful,and successful i must admit amerie's touch and 1 thing were my jam at one point but overall i think her voice is weak almost annoying no hate hear just opinion because like i said i did like some of her songs.

So pleased for her, she's so underlooked.

I do not think Def Jam signing Amerie has anything to do with Rihanna....It's called Def Jam trying to be smart. Rihanna has been working non-stop by dropping 3 albums back to back so she definitely will not be dropping another album next year. Amerie, on the other hand, is eager to have another US release so Def Jam is a good way to go and she would not be competing with Rihanna when her album drops.
