I heard the entire album, and from a first listen it was not anything to jump for joy about.
The 'I Am...' side was filled with a bunch of mediocre really slow and what comes off as boring-YES I said it, songs. A few of them were decent like, "Broken Hearted Girl," and "Halo." [Minus "If I Were A Boy," of course]
So then I turn to the more upbeat section of the album, the 'Sasha Fierce,' side and it wasn't extrodinarily better either. Best songs from that side were "Video Phone," and "Ego." And that was primarily because they were catchy. Aside from that I would definetly have to listen to the sogns over and over to even start to like them.
People (including you Sam) are going to blow this album up and make it seem legendary when it really doesn't seem so IN MY OPINION.
Times liek these really upset me because I people don't give the time of day to an artist like Ashanti, whose CD 'The Declaration,' was outstanding in my opinion if you like R&B music, and even Michelle Williams's "Unexpected," [which I haven't heard...] but get over looked just because someone who created a name for themsleves has a cult of fans behind their every step.
Wow when will music become more about creativity and unique-ness and less of what seems like a popularity contest.

The ending of "At Last" was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
Although I agree alot of artist do get overlooked because they are constantly compared to Beyonce (who does have strong, obsessive fans) most of the time she does her end by putting out great song/performances. I mean her music won't be everyones cup of tea noones music is. Personally I think I Am is her BEST work to date. She shows that she is a VOCALIST and takes risks on that disk. Sasha Fierce however lol I could have lived w/o a few of them tracks in particular "Video PHone" I can't stand that song lol but hey that is the type of songs some folk like.
P.S. buy BOTH Michelle and Beyonce's albums tomorrow lol. They are BOTH great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

she is so overrated it's unbelievable, soem songs off this album are good like scared of lonely, broken hearted girl and halo. but despite these tracks, the album isn't so great as people make it out to be. other artists nowadays like ciara, amerie, kelly n michelle don't get a look on the scene because you got beyonce tryna be the best at everything. my opinion so don't get attacking lol

I agree that the performances were on point because Beyonce can sing . . . NO DOUBT about that.
I also agree that many good artist get over looked because they lack the fan base, but again you can't blame that on the artist that hav a huge fan base like Beyonce. One of the main reasons she has such a huge fan base is because of her performances. The girl sings, dances and really puts on a good concert.
Yes Ashanti's album is good, but her concerts aren't nearly as good as Beyonce's. She also doesn't do as many tours. The public needs to see that. I mean come on think about, Janet is not the best singer in the world, but her concerts are off the chain because she puts on a good show. Look at Madonna . . . she has withstood the test of time. Everytime you look around, she is on tour and they sell out, because she outs on a hell of a show. That's what the public wants to see. I'm not knocking anyone's hustle, because I'm a Bey fan, an Ashanti fan, a Brandy fan and fortunately for me, I support all the artist that I like.
We are all entitled to our different opinions but some get carried away by putting some artist or other commenters down. That is unnecessary, uncalled for and a bit childish.

I dnt think the album is perfect, I love all the songs, BUT i was expecting sumthin dfrnt, anyway-U CNT KNOCK THE LIVE SINGING, THE WOMAN IS THE BEST WE GOT LIVE, u can hate alu want onthe music, I DNT CARE-LIVE IS where its @ & NONE of these ho*s can do it like the Queen-Beyonce/I do luv me sum BRANDY THO!!! :)
