Def Jam is residual disaster! they have been for years. Look at how many of these artists come out in the end after have been on their label..There have been artists they just plainly forgot about! dats so sad...takin their money and running.. I know for a fact that Amerie is one of the most gifted talent of singers. Amerie is the real DIVA. In my opinion, Rihanna's voice isn't as strong. However, i like her unique voice. I don't think Rihanna is as good as Amerie, honestly

I do not think Def Jam signing Amerie has anything to do with Rihanna....It's called Def Jam trying to be smart. Rihanna has been working non-stop by dropping 3 albums back to back so she definitely will not be dropping another album next year. Amerie, on the other hand, is eager to have another US release so Def Jam is a good way to go and she would not be competing with Rihanna when her album

I've always said that Amerie was severly underrated and under promoted and that Columbia execs all deserve flat tires.. I love Amerie but I'm not sure if this is a good move. Yes, Def Jam did make Rihanna into a big star but she is also the only one they promote besides Ne-Yo. Great artists like Megan Rochell, Bobby Valentino, and Shareefa fell by the wayside as far as promotion.Heck even Teairra Mari had potential but they didn't market her right at all. They can't even promote Janet and that should be easy

I think Amerie has been in the game and screwed over enough to be smarter then that. Theres no denying that Def Jam is the label to make you a success but thats if you do what they say so it will be interesting to see what she comes up with. Amerie can really sing when she's not trying too hard. and she's gorgeous! I like her singing regular R&B songs. Like I can see her recording something like Keyshia Cole's last album and it sounding great. Her songs off her first album had that vibe..
