Girlicious Update Since being revealed as the the winners of 'The Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious' back in April, Girlicious have seldom been seen promoting their single 'Like Me' or self-titled LP, save for a few TV appearances here and there.

Things, however, seem to be picking up with their project, as their album will now be released on August 12th in Canada (originally due this month). You may be thinking, why Canada? Well, the girls have experienced the most success there to date, with 'Like Me' peaking at #4 on Canada's official single chart and buzz single 'Stupid Sh*t' at #20. A US/International release is tentatively listed as simply '2008'.

It'll be interesting to see if this project actually makes any kind of impact on a larger scale (other than Canada alone). For, multi-tiered releases are becoming a thing of the past, and the few that do tend to end up performing badly in the territory that received it late (See: The UK chart performance of Mary J's 'Growing Pains'). Also, does anyone else find it baffling that the group's project is being launched at the same time as the Pussycat Dolls'?

Your thoughts?

Newly formed girl-group sensations Girlicious performed at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada yesterday. The girls gave a live rendition of current single 'Like Me' check it out:

Hmm...ok, I guess. They are evidently still very 'green', which is understandable. I'm thinking those Danity Kane comparisons can be put to rest for the time being now though.

Random tidbit: I'm a bit puzzled as to how little promotion they've done thus far considering their self-titled debut is due in stores early July. I wonder if it'll be pushed back?

What do you think of the performance?

Girlicious stopped by The Sauce yesterday to promote their new single 'Like Me' (currently #3 on the iTunes chart). As well as being interviewed, the girls also gave an impromptu acapella rendition of the song. Check it out:

Perhaps it's because I see a lot of potential with the group that I'm still rooting for them, because that acapella was a mess...a hot mess, at that. It'll be interesting to see if they can deliver the goods with their future showings. Their self-titled debut is set to hit stores July 1st.

Any thoughts?

'The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious' winners performed their new single 'Like Me' recently on morning show KTLA. Check out the performance below:

Amateur(ish), yet pretty decent. They have a long way to go. For those not in the know, Girlicious are the creation of Robin Antin, the brainchild behind the Pussycat Dolls. The aim when forming the band, as seen on the show, was to produce a more 'Urban' PCD-esque group.

What do you think of the performance?

The winners of CW's 'Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious' were revealed yesterday; Nicole, Natalie, Chrystina and Tiffany are the ladies who made the final cut. During the show, the video for the group's debut single 'Like Me premiered alongside the clip for their buzz single 'Stupid Sh*t'. Check out both vids below:

Like Me

Wow. For a new group they are pretty good, real polished. Though the song is hardly groundbreaking, it's processed, 'fast-food' music at its best. The striking similarities between Girlicious and the Pussycat Dolls can be attributed to the fact they were both founded/managed by Robin Antin - the brainchild behind PCD's success. IMO these girls possess more potential for the simple fact that a) there isn't 10+ of them whose names are a mystery and b) *all* of the members actually sing. With Danity Kane running things at the moment, Pussycat Dolls due out very soon and now Girlicious, the girl-group scene is heating up this year. Check out the girls 'Stupid Sh*t' video..which is well...as the title suggests (LOL) below:
