R&B star LeToya is currently starring in the play Rumors, which is touring across the US at present. During the plays stop in Atlanta last week, the singer performed her hit single 'Torn' as part of her performance. Check it out:

She nailed it; her vocals are in the best shape I've ever heard them in. This actually has me geared up for her sophomore effort, as her improved vocal ability should obviously reflect on the new CD. Good stuff.

What do you think of the performance?

LeToya UpdateLeToya stopped by Atlanta's V103 radio station earlier this week before her performance in the stage show 'Rumors' at The Atlanta Civic Center. During the interview, the singer spoke about her much-anticipated sophomore album, which she claims will now be released 'sometime before the end of 08' (SMH), as well as giving an impromptu acapella of her 2006 smash 'Torn'. I was real surprised about her vocals...she stepped up!

LeToya LuckettR&B star LeToya's sophomore album has been confirmed for a June 10th 2008 release. The news may come as somewhat of a disappointment to her fans, as the singer has been quoted as saying that the album was set to drop at the start of 2008. Interestingly the album is listed as being released under Virgin Records; however it's doubtful there's much to that as LeToya's label Capitol and Virgin recently merged. {Source}

Though I'm all for LeToya and the label making sure the album is 'right' (I'm assuming this is the reason for the delay), it is kinda risky for her to be out of the limelight for so long.

As LeToya Luckett preps the release of her sophomore effort (tentatively titled 'Lady Love') for an early 2008 release, a new buzz track has surfaced. Fans of the 'Torn' singer have been patiently waiting on 'Swagger' to surface since it's title was revealed back in October. I must say that I'm feeling the track, which features her fellow Texans UGK, Slim Thug and Killa Kyleon, a lot. LeToya's flow over the gritty production is on-point. The Beyonce reference was unexpected...see if you can spot it.

Just to clarify, this is NOT the first official single from the album. Expect to hear the album's lead single early next year.

Hit or Miss?

Our friends over at SOHH Soulful caught up with LeToya during the HSAN (Hip-Hop Summit Action Network) event in Atlanta yesterday (November 3rd). The R&B star was there to give a speech on financial betterment - stopping to speak to the press before heading into the event. Check out the video below where the 'Torn' singer shares new info on her forthcoming album:

If you can't see the video, click here

It seems her label Capitol are pulling out the stops for this project; with the likes of Ne-Yo and Brian Michael Cox now on board - it appears to be an A-list affair. Here's hoping the album is as good as her debut.

Any thoughts

R&B star LeToya continues to work on her sophomore effort (tentatively titled 'Lady Love') for a Spring 2008 release. The breakout solo star was recently filmed in the studio working with renown producers The Underdogs. I'm definitely liking the track they were working on - hopefully it'll make the CD's final cut.

Both LeToya and Solange attended Lil' Wayne's 25th birthday bash at Club HUSH in Houston on Sunday 23rd September. As usual, LeToya looked great...Solange, on the other hand, has had better days lol. Still, it's good to see that all hostility between LeToya and the Knowles' camp all in the past.

R&B breakout star LeToya is hard at work on her as-yet-untitled sophomore LP (the previously announced title 'Lady Love' is still under consideration). Set for release in February 2008, the album is slated to feature productions from the likes of Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins, Pharrell Williams, J.R. Rotem, Bryan Michael Cox and J.R Rotem. Though the album is to hit stores next year, a track from the set titled 'Swagger' - which features UGK, Killa Kyleon and Slim Thug - should surface in the coming days.

I'm really anticipating LeToya's next CD. She seems to have taken things to the next level, having enlisted such renown hitmakers. I've wanted to hear her over a Darkchild beat for the longest time, so it'll be interesting to see how the finished project turns out.

R&B star LeToya appeared at the 2nd International Hip Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment in Toronto, Canada this past week. As usual, she was looking great; but I'm hoping she switches up her image (even if just a little) soon. She's starting to look real 'samey'. Still, why fix what's not broken? Check out more pics below:

R&B star LeToya was spotted on the set of the video for Diddy’s upcoming single ‘Diddy Rock’. Though not featured on the actual single, she’ll be making an appearance in the vid - which is still a very good look. I’ve always liked her hustle factor – she’s managed to stay in the limelight long after the release of her album. LeToya’s sophomore effort ‘Lady Love’ is set to drop in November.

R&B star LeToya served as the opening act on Mary J Blige's Salinos, California concert this past Friday (July 13th). During the 'Torn' singer's set, she revealed that her sophomore CD - due for release later this year - will be titled 'Lady Love'. LeToya, then, proceeded to perform the song, which reports described as having an '80's groove', as well as another new track called 'Don't Let Me Get Away'. A small tidbit: LeToya also performed a Destiny's Child Medley ('No, No No', 'Bills Bills Bills' and 'Say My Name'.

It's great to see that the album is coming along smoothly. After making her mark with the first CD, all eyes will be on whether she can deliver with the follow-up. On a side note, I really would have wanted to see the Destiny's Child medley she did - for more reasons than one.

Do you think LeToya can top her debut?

R&B star LeToya Luckett is hard at work on the follow-up to her self-titled debut. According to our friends at Rap-Up.com, a November release date has been pencilled in for the currently-untitled disc, which will drop via Capitol Music Group. Most interesting, however, is the producer line up - which is set to include Dr Dre, Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins and Babyface.

I'm really anticipating LeToya's new CD; her first was, for me, one of last year's best R&B offerings. The Darkchild production is definitely one of the things I'll be checking for, as I've always wondered how she'd fare on one of his tracks. I'm hoping she gets the increased label support she deserves this time around, though. Capitol kinda dropped the ball after the release of 'Torn', with 'She Don't' being a weak 2nd single choice. Still, with the last album being certified Platinum, the label are bound to know that they're onto something with LeToya.

Are you anticipating LeToya's new album?

This new Mike Jones track 'Bonnie & Clyde' is slated to appear on his upcoming album 'The American Dream' (due July 10th). The track, which features LeToya Luckett, is decent mid-tempo number. However, I'm not really feeling Mike's talk-singing in parts of the song. LeToya does great on the hook, though. She's really keeping her name out there in the run-up to the release of her as-yet-untitled sophomore CD.

Hit or Miss?

The video for Ali & Gipp's new single 'Almost Made Ya' premiered today. I've been liking this Jermaine Dupri-produced song for some time now and it's great that it finally got the video treatment. Though it's pretty standard, the video is decent and LeToya is looking on-point - as usual. Be on the lookout for new albums by both Ali & Gipp as well as LeToya in the months ahead.

It has been announced that R&B songstress LeToya is to be honored by the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) during its 20th Anniversary Rhythm and Soul Music Awards on June 26th. LeToya's hit 'Torn' is also set to be honored at the event as one of ASCAP's top songs of 2006. Her career is going from strength to strength.

In other LeToya news, angry fans have started a petition to BET querying why the 'She Don't' singer was completely left off the nominee list for the 2007 BET Awards. It makes alot of sense, considering LeToya was a major feature on BET last year. 'Torn' was #1 on the 106 & Park video countdown for a number of weeks and had to be retired from the chart. Not forgetting the 'H-Town Chick' reality show on the network which documented LeToya's daily activities in the run-up to the release of her debut album. All of this and not even one nomination.

Following the success of her self-titled debut album - which has been certified Platinum, LeToya has revealed that she is hard at work on her sophomore CD. The currently untitled project has yet to be given a release date, however rumored producers are set to include Jermaine Dupri and Teddy Bishop. Speaking in this months edition of Grip Magazine, the Houston beauty also outlined her plans to start a clothing line. On top of this, Warner Chapel Music (WMC) - a part of Warner Music Group - put out a press release yesterday stating that they have signed LeToya to a publishing (songwriting) contract. Can't knock her hustle.

I'm looking forward to her new album; the first was a solid effort and I felt it was consistent all the way through.

Are you waiting on LeToya?

Ciara - Do It

This unreleased track was featured as a bonus on the European version of Ciara's sophomore CD, 'The Evolution'. 'Do It', which was produced by Will i Am (of the Black Eyed Peas), is the type of up-tempo song you would expect from Ciara. While it's decent, it sounds like something that would fit in better on her first album 'Goodies'.

LISTEN: Do It

Ali & Gipp - Almost Made Ya (ft. LeToya)

Some of you may recognise Ali from Nelly's group 'St Lunatics'; he still is a member of the group, however he's doing his own thing at the moment with Gipp from Goodie Mob. Jermaine Dupri produced the track and it samples Brandy's 'Almost Doesn't Count'. I'm really liking this one alot. Lyrically, the song is engaging (2.31: 'it ain't yours!') and LeToya delivers on the hook.

T.I - Big Sh*t Poppin'

This is scheduled to be the lead single from T.I's upcoming album 'T.I vs T.I.P' (due July 3rd). As with the 1st singles from his last few albums, 'Big Sh*t Poppin' doesn't dissappoint. The Mannie Fresh produced track is a banger; it's bass-heavy. T.I's flow is on-point too.

LISTEN: Big Sh*t Poppin'

-----------------------------------

Trey Songz - Fly Together (ft. Jim Jones)

As I said before, I'm really liking Trey's new material; it's like he's done a complete U-turn from the music he was making on his last album. This new song, which features Jim Jones, is pretty good. Eric Hudson, who produced Omarion's 'Entourage', also produced this.

LeToya - Nothing For Me

This unreleased Toya track was produced by Mike City (Brandy, Jamie Foxx). I can see why this was left off her album; the beat is crazy but the track just isn't anything special. Still worth a download though.

DL: Nothing For Me

-----------------------------------

Brandy - Just Like Tommy

With all that is going on with Brandy, I wasn't expecting any new material from her for a while. Nonetheless, Just Like Tommy is a great track...not album material but still good. It has a neo-soul vibe to it, something she hasn't done in the past.

DL: Just Like Tommy

-----------------------------------

Omarion - Icebox (ft. Usher)

This remix of Icebox premiered on Hot 97 a few days ago and features none other than Usher. I was kinda surprised by the Usher feature as many see Omarion as one of many Usher imitators. Like the original, this version is HOT.

Paris Bennet - I Will

Former American Idol contestant Paris Bennet is to release her debut album 'Princess P' in April and this track will be featured on the set. The inspirational song includes a mass choir and Paris really delivers on the vocals.

DL: I Will

Jennifer Hudson - And I Am Telling You (ONLY Live Performance) (AUDIO)

I know I posted the link to the video a last week, but here is the audio of this one-off live performance of the track. Jennifer nailed it.

Former Destiny's Child member LeToya and Beyonce's dad Matthew Knowles embraced each other publicly; apparently showing that there is no bad blood between them. Contrary to what some may think, I believe this display of unity at Russell Simmons Hip Hop Summit last week was genuine. LeToya has carved out a successful solo career and Papa Knowles has made Destiny's Child and Beyonce into global superstars, so its all good.

Spotted this one over at YBF:

PaPa Knowles strikes again. YBF chick LeToya Luckett was tapped to be on the Daddy's Little Girls soundtrack along with several other artists--including Beyonce. But word has it that the reason Toya got dropped from the soundtrack was because Papa Knowles demanded she get dropped or else Beyonce's track would be pulled. Here we go again....

Source: YBF

Not too sure about this one. I know Papa Knowles is kinda shady but I think some of the stuff written about him is over-exaggerrated. Still though, I wouldn't put it past him...
