Newly married diva Mariah Carey stopped by the Ellen Degeneres Show earlier this week to talk about her much-publicized marriage to Nick Cannon. I guess this is legit as it's going to get - straight from the horses mouth.

Mariah & Nick Cannon Confirm MarriageMariah Carey and Nick Cannon feature in the cover of the latest issue of PEOPLE magazine, confirming that they, indeed, did get married. Check out the excerts from the issue via PEOPLE.com:
“We really do feel we are soulmates,” Carey tells PEOPLE, following their sunset ceremony at the pop star’s Bahamian estate. “I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me.”

Cannon adds: “She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside.”

This still hasn't sunk in, I'm not sure it ever will. None of this adds up; mainly because of Mariah's seemingly cautious view on marrying again. In any case, congratulations to them, I guess.

Mariah & Nick Cannon Confirm Marriage

For those still in doubt, any notion of a publicity stunt seems to have been squashed with Oprah's confirmation of the pair actually eloping. Click here to watch

Amidst the media speculation surrounding Mariah Carey's supposed marriage to actor/comedian Nick Cannon, the video for the singer's new single 'Bye Bye' - which stars Cannon - premiered today. Having watched the clip, I'm now almost certain that the 'wedding' is a publicity stunt. I mean why was Nick in the video? His role served no purpose to the song's lyrical content. The initially boring clip picked up when it began to take some kind of relevant form. I'm not particularly a fan of the song, however I can see Mariah scoring another big hit with this.

What do you think of the video?

Mariah Covers VIBE

Diva Mariah graces the June cover of VIBE magazine. The issue, which hits newsstands today, sees the songstress model a variety of swimwear showcasing her new slim-line physique. She looks real good; they went a lot easier on the Photoshop job than her recent promo pics have done, IMO making her look even better.

Mariah & Nick Cannon To Wed? According to Access Hollywood, Mariah Carey and rumored boyfriend actor/comedian Nick Cannon are set to tie the knot:

A source close to Mariah has confirmed to Access Hollywood that the music diva is engaged to Nick Cannon.

Reps for both singers were unavailable for comment.

The couple sent the rumor mill into overdrive when 38-year-old Mariah (with Nick on her arm) was seen sporting a dazzling new piece of bling on her ring finger at the after party for her Tribeca film, “Tennessee,” in New York.

When asked at the party what he loved about Mariah, 27-year-old Nick gave a one-word answer.

“Everything,” he told People.

UPDATE: Reports are now suggesting the "couple" have tied the knot yesterday. Click here to read the full story

Pardon my bluntness, but I think this is garbage. Aside from the fact it's common-knowledge in industry circles that she's supposedly been dating music exec Mark Sudack for the last 3 years, it's oh-so apt that Nick is also her love interest in the upcoming video for 'Bye Bye'. Word has it, Mariah's people are pushing this story to masses to generate hype around the single and its accompanying clip. This would explain the several push-back's the vid's debut has had since first being set to premiere mid-April. Sure, a good PR stunt will have people talking, but come on now... Nick Cannon? That is not a good look.

Diva Mariah Carey performed a set today on Good Morning America to promote her 'E=MC²' LP. During her rendition of 'Touch My Body' a technical slip-up occurred. To say things didn't go as planned would be an understatement. Check it out:

On the one hand, I'm in hysterics, on the other I'm thinking, damn. Absolutely inexcusable. Here we have someone who is commonly referred to as one of music's greatest voices, inadvertently exposed lip-synching on live television. SMH at Mariah asking her backing singers to stop singing her part, when it was obviously her pre-recorded backing track playing up. Knowing full well I'm probably volunteering myself to be 'Lamb Stew', this really was like watching the death of 'The Voice'. I mean, come on now; when she tried reaching for the notes at the end she sounded like she'd been chewing on cigarette butts. A mess.

Anyway see the performances of 'I'm That Chick' and 'Bye Bye' below:

Carey's 'E=MC²' Soars Straight To #1 Mariah Carey and Island Def Jam will have much for celebration this week; the diva's latest LP 'E=MC²' landed atop of the Billboard 200 chart after selling a whopping 463,000 copies in the US in its first week. The figures are a career best for Carey, whose previous highest debut was 2005's 'Mimi' which also bowed at #1 selling 404,000 units in its premiere week.

Carey now stands beside Janet Jackson and Madonna as having the second most #1 albums among female artists (6 a piece). With 8 #1 albums to her name, Barbara Streisand remains in the lead. {Source}

Congratulations to Mimi. Yes random, but I'm gonna need Ms. Jackson to get her stuff together and make this 'Discipline' project work. Mariah and Madonna are showing that age isn't a factor, it's the machine you have behind you. Hopefully Janet/her people get things moving - and fast.

Mariah Carey - 'Bye Bye' (Remix) (ft. Jay-Z)This Jay-Z assisted remix of Mariah Carey's current single 'Bye Bye' surfaced just a few hours ago. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I'm not sold on the original version, but this doesn't really do much for me. Unlike Mariah's past remixes, which oft are equally as good, if not better than the originals, this is kinda blah. On a more positive note, the track is worth a listen, if only to hear Jay's untouchable flow.

Hit or Miss?

Mariah Speaks On Leona Comparisons Diva Mariah Carey, whose latest effort 'E=MC²' is set to top the US charts this week, spoke recently on the comparisons between herself and UK singing sensation Leona Lewis:

"Honestly, there has been so many, 'This is the new her,' and I'm like, 'OK, show me the new her. Can she come and work for me and be my double?' And I'm not particular talking about this girl Leona, because I only heard her once and I didn't really hear a true similarity, particularly in the style of music. It is what it is and critics have compared me to so many people who are not really singers, and they're certainly not writers". {Source}

Is it me or does she come across kind of catty here? I mean, not for a long while has a voice like Leona's risen to prominence, yet Mariah seems to see this as a bad thing. Yes, she's worked incredibly hard to reach the status she enjoys today, but I've never been a fan of the whole veterans feeling threatened by the newcomers thing.

Mariah Carey Lines Up 'Love Story' In an interview New York's Hot 97 radio station today, Mariah Carey confirmed that 'Love Story' will likely serve as the third single from 'E=MC²'. Elaborating further, she revealed actor Nick Cannon will both feature in the clip for current single' Bye Bye' as well as that of 'Love Story', citing a storyline tie-in similar to 'It's Like That' and 'We Belong Together' from the 'Mimi' record.

Having dropped the light mid-tempo in the form of 'Touch My Body' and now the ballad 'Bye Bye', the most logical move IMO would be to release club banger 'Migrate' next. Granted there's a strong likelihood that the track will at some point receive the single treatment (according to Mariah), delaying what will inevitably be a hit, especially in favour of 'Love Story' doesn't make much sense to me.

With 'Mariah Week' in full swing, the diva's BET special 'The Relativity of Mariah' (taped back in March) aired today. Check out performances of 'Migrate / Touch My Body', 'Love Story / Shake It Off' and 'We Belong Together' below:

We Belong Together

Wow! She sounded great. Watching this kinda has me thinking she either had a few extra days "vocal rest" or that she's only capable of delivering live vocals like that in front of her fans. Whatever the case, the performances were on-point. More of this, please.

Mariah Carey performed her new single 'Bye Bye' on American Idol yesterday. Check out the performance below:

She did pretty good, though gone seem to be the days where a Mariah performance 'Wowed' me. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me but, it seems as if she lip-synching during certain parts. In any case, it's unlikely to affect her sales as, according to Billboard 'E=MC²' is on-course to debut atop of the US album chart at #1 next week - knocking off Leona - with sales in excess of 500,000. More power to her.

With the release of Mariah Carey's much anticipated new LP 'E=MC²' today, there's no doubt the multi-octave songstress will seemingly be everywhere this week. Carey's first stop was the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday. As well as performing current single 'Bye Bye', she spoke on, among other things, her new slim-line figure, marriage to Tommy Mottola and of course the new record. Check out the interview and performance below:

Great interview and pretty decent performance; shame about the lip-synching at the end though.

Mariah Carey was one of the many acts who performed at the Idol Gives Back 2008, which aired yesterday. Check out her rendition of her inspirational song 'Fly Like A Bird (from the 'Emancipation):

She nailed it! Great performance. 'Fly Like A Bird' stands as one of my personal favorite Mimi songs of all time, so it's always good to see her do the track justice live. I'm on the fence as to whether there was some 'studio wizardry' used during the last part, but oh well, it sounded on-point and seemed live for the majority.

Continuing along the promo trail for her upcoming 'E=MC²' here in the UK, Mariah Carey tapped a special for T4 which aired today. As part of her set, she performed her the album's second single 'Bye Bye' Check out the performance below:

SMH. Granted we've finally got to hear the song it's entirety - which is pretty good IMO - it's very disappointing to see that she lip-synced the whole performance; not partially - all of it. While I've warmed more to the what the album looks set to be offering, I still stand by my claim that Mariah has become pretty much a studio singer - as she either doesn't care to perform live anymore or can't. I'm thinking it's more the latter. Yes, I know the Lambs will probably chew me out, so with without further ado.....

Diva Mariah Carey is currently on a UK promo blitz in support of her 18th #1 single 'Touch My Body. The singer performed the smash earlier on today on the Paul O'Grady show. Though, by no means great, this definitely stands as Mariah's best performance of the song to date. Good stuff.
