With Missy Elliott set to release her recently re-titled LP 'Block Party' on August 26th, the set's lead single 'Best Best' has surfaced. Produced by Danja, the mid-tempo cut is typical Missy in that it's pretty much unlike anything out at present. Though I'm not entirely sold on this whimsical just yet, the song does sound like a grower.

Hit or Miss?

Missy Elliott Names New Album 'FANomenal'After lengthy hiatus, Missy Elliott is set to release her new LP 'FANomenal' later this summer. . Addressing the reasoning for choosing the album's title, Missy said the following:
“I had a contest and we had so many people taking part. There were so many fans and I decided I wanted to dedicate it to my fans and spell it with F-A-N, FANomenal. I have had so many people sticking with Missy from day one. So this album is for them.” {Source}

Word has it the album will be preceded by the first official single 'Act A Fool'. I'm not really feeling the album's title, but I guess she justified her reason pretty well. 'Ching-A-Ling' wet our appetite earlier this year; it'll be interesting to see what Missy serves up with the record itself.

Any thoughts?

Since hearing the video for Missy's 'Ching-A-Ling' was set to debut today, I've been anticipating it. Missy didn't disappoint. Though she's served up better efforts in the past, I'm really liking this. Directed by famed director Dave Meyers, the vid is being billed as the first ever 3D video - which may explain certain things about the way it looks. In an industry that likes to rehash the same ol same ol, Missy's innovativeness is welcomed. 'Ching-A-Ling' is one of many singles to be released from the 'Step Up 2' soundtrack - which is out tomorrow (February 5th).

Though it seems Ciara has wrapped up the promotion for her most recent project 'The Evolution', she isn't heading out of the limelight just yet. The 'Goodies' singer laid down new vocals for a remix to Janet's 'Feedback', as well as Missy Elliott's 'Ching-A-Ling'.

Despite Janet not recording new vocals for this (possibly official) remix, Ciara has injected a new life into this already-storming track. Often likened to Janet, Ciara's voice, delivery, everything fits the song really well. With all the comparisons and whatnot, would I be alone in thinking a live performance of this remix would be unmissable?

As with the 'Feedback' remix, it's Ciara's delivery that stands out on Missy's 'Ching-A-Ling' remix - which also features Jay-Z. It's well-known C's vocal prowess leaves a lot to be desired, but her swagger on this can't be denied IMO.

These kinda have me thirsty for what she'll be serving up on her new album, which she is reportedly working on now.

Hit(s) or Miss(es)?

Missy Elliott - Ching-A-Ling After a lengthy hiatus from the music scene, Missy Elliott is back with this new track called 'Ching-A-Ling'. Set to feature on the forthcoming soundtrack for the movie 'Step Up 2', the track has me amped for more new material from Missy. I'm liking it.

VH1's annual Hip Hop Honors show aired in the US yesterday (October 8th). Among those recognized for their contributions to Hip Hop was rapper/producer Missy Elliot. Tweet, Timbaland, Eve, Keyshia Cole and Ciara performed an awesome medley of Elliot's hits. It kinda served as a reminder of what a great talent Missy is and how much she has pushed the boundaries in Urban music.

Keyshia Cole was joined by Lil'Kim and Missy Elliott on BET's 106 & Park on Monday to perform her smash hit 'Let It Go'. The energy from the trio and the crowd alike was off the charts. Great stuff. Keyshia's new album 'Just Like You' is in stores now.

Check out Missy Elliott in the first of a number of ads she'll star in as part a campaign with Doritos. The jokes kinda write themselves with this one lol. Still, it's good to see Missy doing her thing with the endorsements.

R&B singer Keyshia Cole performed her smash hit 'Let It Go' during her show at New York's Nokia Theatre this past Sunday (August 19th). Billed as the surprise of the night, both Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim joined her onstage to perform their song. I'm really loving the performance; Keyshia sounded great and the crowd were hyped throughout - especially when Missy and Kim came out. Great stuff.

This new Keyshia Cole track is slated to be featured on her anticipated sophomore album 'Just Like You' (due later this year). I'm really liking this one; it's a smooth track, which samples a number of past hits - most notably Notorious BIG's 'Juicy'. Keyshia sounds great; Missy and Kim are welcome additions to the song too - with both delivering hot verses. I'm really looking forward to Keyshia's upcoming CD, as the first was solid. Anyway, check out the track...
