Nelly's 'Brass Knuckles' Pushed BackWord has it that Nelly's latest LP 'Brass Knuckles' has been pushed back yet again. The St. Louis native had been set to release the album on June 24th, following a series of unmet release dates prior. The record is now slated to hit stores on August 19th. It's worth noting that 'Brass Knuckles' was set to compete with efforts by The Game, G-Unit as well as Ne-Yo which were set to drop on the same date - yet all have been delayed.

I'm guessing the label are going for the 2 single approach, having already released 'Party People' (which seems to have peaked at #40 on the Billboard Hot 100). Here's hoping all these push-backs don't reach the stupendous levels seen last year by the likes of Mya, Mario etc.

Any thoughts?

Ashanti - 'Body On Me' (Full) (ft. Nelly & Akon) With the snippet of Ashanti's latest single 'Body On Me' making the rounds earlier this week, it was inevitable that the full version of the cut would surface not long after. Put simply, the track is a winner IMO and has 'summer hit' written all over it. My only gripe is that, with just one verse and backing vocals, Ashanti sounds like a feature artist on her own song. Still, this has me more than amped for 'The Declaration's' June 3rd release date.

Update: Confirmed to have been mixed by a fan with the Nelly & Akon version floating around.

Rapper Nelly co-headlined the 2nd day of the BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. During his set he was joined by Kelly Rowland to perform their smash 'Dilemma'. Check out their performance below:

Granted Nelly forgot some of the words (which they convincingly played down), I liked the performance - the crowd seemed to as well.

What do you think of the performance?

Nelly - 'Stepped On My J's' (ft. JD & Ciara) With the release of Nelly's 'Brass Knuckles' fast approaching, a new cut from the set has surfaced. 'Stepped On My J's', which features Jermaine Dupri and R&B star Ciara, sees the St. Louis native re-embrace the gritty, yet radio friendly sound that made his debut so great. I must say, I'm really liking this one. 'Brass Knuckles' hits stores June 24th.

Nelly - 'Body On Me (ft. Akon)'With the release of Nelly's latest LP 'Brass Knuckles' drawing nearer, a brand new track from the set has surfaced. The Akon-assisted 'Body On Me', finds Nelly in familiar radio-ready territory. Though this isn't as promising as his current single 'Party People', it's a pretty decent effort.

The video for Nelly's new single 'Party People' (ft. Fergie) premiered little over an hour ago. I must say I'm really feeling both the song and it's accompanying clip. The vid, though pretty simplistic, does the track justice. It's great to see Nelly coming with the heat this time around; 'Wadsyaname' - his first attempt at at launching his forthcoming album 'Brass Knuckles (due June 24th) - was solid, but very 'Nelly circa 2002-2004'. Good stuff.

Nelly - 'Party People' (ft. Fergie)After Nelly's most recent effort ' Wadsyaname' pretty much tanked last summer, the rapper is back with 'Party People' . The song, which features Fergie, is the 'official' first single to be lifted from the St. Louis star's new LP 'Brass Knuckles' (due June 24th). I'm kinda surprised, I wasn't expecting to like the Polow Da Don produced track as much as I do. The beat goes hard and serves as the grittiest Nelly has come on record for a while now. The Fergie feature surprisingly works pretty well, with the Black Eyed Peas front-woman holding her own on the hook, as well as her own rap verse (you read right). IMO the song has a lot of hit potential. Nelly will be shooting the song's video in Los Angeles this week.

Nelly Enlists Fergie For New SingleSt. Louis rapper Nelly has teamed up with Fergie for his latest single 'Party People'. According to AllAccess.com {Credit: Kevipod}, the single is set to officially hit airwaves on February 19th and will serve as the 'official' first single from Nelly's 'Brass Knuckles' album. Originally set for release back in November last year, the album was withdrawn from release schedules after the lead single (which will probably be labelled a 'buzz' single now) 'Wadsyaname' tanked. 'Brass Knuckles' is now set for release on June 24th.

With Nelly set to release his new album 'Brass Knuckles' on November 13th, the video for the set's first single 'Wadysname' premiered yesterday. I'm really liking the song and this Chris Robinson directed video. The girls were really getting it some of the scenes! Jamaica (Laurie Ann's replacement on Making The Band) choreographed the vid.

This year's VMA's may have been a shambles, but it didn't stop the stars from partying away after the show. Jermaine Dupri and Nelly hosted a joint post-VMA party at the TAO club in Las Vegas last night. Each were accompanied by their girlfriends, Janet Jackson and Ashanti. Other celebs in attendance included T.I. and Alicia Keys.

Having been on hiatus since 2005, St. Louis native Nelly is back on the musical scene. Set for release later this year, the rapper's new album 'Brace Knuckles' boasts production from the likes of Jermaine Dupri and Pharrell Williams. This great new mid-tempo track 'Wadsyaname' is slated to be the album's first single. The track is typical Nelly, hence it's real radio friendly. However at the same time the beat knocks -I'm really loving the production on this one. Listen out for elements of K-Ci and Jo Jo's 'All My Life', which the song samples.

As Ashanti preps her new album 'The Declaration' (due for an October release), this new song featuring Nelly - apparently the lead single - has surfaced. I'm kinda thrown by this one; she went in a different direction with 'Switch' and I give her props for doing so. The song is pretty catchy - I'm liking the swagger in her delivery and Nelly's feature on the hook. Having said that, I see the single either growing on the listener or tanking - no middle ground. It's not that the track is poor, it has more to do with the feeling that Ashanti should come with something harder than this as a first single.

According to hit-maker Jermaine Dupri, Nelly is hard at work on his new album and has a few surprises in store. JD tells MTV News:

"Nelly's got a crazy collaboration he's trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song," JD said. "That's what he wants. If he could convince them to do it, it would be crazy. He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he's gonna do two verses. He has it all planned out. You ask him about it! This is what he wants; he's 100-percent deadlocked into it. My two records [that J.D. has produced for Nelly so far], he's gonna have some people on them - I won't tell it yet. I don't want to jinx the record".

I've been hearing about a possible Mariah / Janet collaboration for some time now, but now Nelly has been thrown into the mix. For some reason, the concept seems more appealing than just the two of them. Janet rapping, though...?
