Pussycat Dolls - 'When I Grow Up'After a brief hiatus, the Pussycat Dolls are back on the music scene with their blazing new single 'When I Grow Up'. Produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins, the uptempo song is definitely one for the clubs. Interestingly, it seems that it's not only Nicole on vocals this go round. Good stuff.

The girls are set to perform the song for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live next week Tuesday (May 20th) and at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards on June 1st. Their sophomore effort is set to hit stores in the summer.

Pussycat Doll front woman, Nicole Scherzinger sang the US National Anthem, 'The Star Spangled Banner', this past Saturday at the Oscar De La Hoya vs Steve Forbes boxing match in California. Check it out below:

She sounded good for the most part, but something about her is still distinctly underwhelming to me. When is the new Pussycat Dolls album out?

What do you think of her rendition?

Nicole Scherzinger - 'Who's Gonna Love You'Word has it Nicole Scherzinger's ill-fated solo debut 'Her Name Is Nicole' has been officially shelved, despite the news of her working on the album alongside the next Pussycat Dolls record. It may as well be (axed), as yet more material from the album has surfaced; this time the Polow Da Don produced 'Who's Gonna Love You'. Perhaps the best track to come from the mass garbage she was churning out as singles, Polow really delivered on the production front. Nicole's voice also compliments the track fairly well too. With that said, something still feels kinda off with the song. I don't know if it's her vocal delivery or what; I just can't put my finger on it.

Pussycat Dolls Working On New CDFollowing a string of flop singles, it appears Nicole Scherzinger is taking heed to calls for her to return to the Pussycat Dolls. Songwriter Sean Garrett, in a recent interview with our friends over at Rap-Up.com, confirmed that he is currently contributing to a new Pussycat Dolls record. When probed about the status of Nicole Scherzinger's much delayed 'Her Name Is Nicole' LP, Garrett stated that Scherzinger is still working on the project (huh?!) and there is to be some form of tie-in with the Pussycat Dolls album. What exactly that means is anyones guess. Whatever the case, here's hoping it marks an end to Nicoles dire solo assault on the charts. {Source}

Pussycat Dolls front-woman Nicole Scherzinger features in the latest issue of GIANT magazine. She opened up about, among other things, her solo journey and her portrayal by the media:

On going solo:
“It’s just one continuous journey. I started out just making music that showed the other sides of me. I am still exploring that. I don’t think I have found any definite number of songs that says, ‘This is it; this says who I am as a solo artist coming out.’ I haven’t found that yet. I am continuously being challenged and inspired. It’s safe because it’s not out yet, but it’s also scary because you really want to challenge yourself as an artist, to take risks. You want to do things that you’re not used to doing. I got to work with a lot of people that I wouldn’t have expected to work with. I was in the studio the other night, and I was like, ‘I didn’t even know I could do this. This is great!’”

On media portrayal:
“I don’t think they show my story. I don’t think they show who I am. Sometimes, when I read my stories, I am not interested So why are other people going to be interested? I know that here is more stuff in here. There are more stories and more interesting things to talk about than what lies on the surface. When I read stories about myself, it just seems so one-dimensional, kind of shallow, I think.”

Though I've not always had the kindest of words about Nicole, I actually respect her a little more after reading this; she's being real to herself, which is what makes people connect with an artist. If only her awful songs weren't so...well...awful.

In what comes as unsurprisingly surprising news (if that makes any sense), Nicole Scherzinger's serially delayed solo debut 'Her Name Is Nicole' has been pushed back to June 23rd (UK). Is there a point anymore? For real, by then it will be almost a year since the album was originally supposed to drop. You'd think the album was the hotness with the way it's still being pushed to the public. The reaction to those dreadful singles she released should serve as an indicator that not many are feeling what she has to offer as a solo artist. I say, throw in the towel (at least she tried lol) and call it a day. The Pussycat Dolls have a winning formula - she should stick with that.

The video for Timbaland's latest single 'Scream' premiered yesterday on Yahoo Music. Despite producing several hits from his 'Shock Value' album, the videos for them have tended to be...well...pretty underwhelming. However, there is no denying, the racy video 'Scream' breaks the mould - easily standing as the producer/rapper's best solo(ish) effort to date. Great song and even better video. Nicole Scherzinger is displaying a certain 'pizazz' she has yet to incorporate into her own solo career...she was getting it - as was Keri.

Check out this behind the scenes look at Timbaland's new video 'Scream', which features Nicole Scherzinger and Keri Hilson:

I'm real psyched about this song getting the single treatment. I've long been a fan of the track since hearing Timbo's 'Shock Value' LP. On a side note, that has to be the most personality the oft-wooden Nicole Scherzinger has shown on camera before...a refreshing change. Be on the look out for the video in weeks ahead.

Amazingly, Nicole Scherzinger is set to release the third single from her serially delayed LP 'Her Name Is Nicole' - without a release date for the album in sight. Titled 'Puakenikeni' (a word in her native Hawaiian tongue), the Akon produced single was voted to be the next single by fans on Nicole's official website. I will say, for the record, that the song has the most substance to it when compared to the two abysmal efforts before it. However, three singles deep, the chances of Nicole's album being anything less than terrible are unlikely IMO. Nicole does have a place in the industry, though - as part of the Pussycat Dolls. It's not too late to go back.

Atlanta rapper T.I, who is currently on house-arrest, features on the double cover of Rap-Up magazine's December/January issue along with Nicole Scherzinger.

T.I, real name Clifford Harris Jr, discusses his luxury lifestyle, his plans to marry and start a family with girlfriend Tiny, staying out of trouble (ironically), his friendship with Suge Knight and Jay-Z, as well as retiring from rap.

Pussycat Doll front woman Nicole Scherzinger talks about going solo, her admiration for Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani, getting close with T.I. on 'that; video, being a nerd in college, and dealing with the paparazzi.

The magazine is on newsstands across the US now.

Nicole Scherzinger's record label Interscope have confirmed that the release of the singer's debut solo album has been delayed until 2008. At time of writing, no reason has been given for the push back. {Source}

This really comes as no surprise. Both singles 'Whatever You Like' and 'Baby Love' were complete and utter garbage - failing miserably on the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Nicole's team are reportedly 'rethinking' their next move - with more studio time not being ruled out. I say she should scap the entire album and start afresh. Better still, go back to the Pussycat Dolls and hope we forget this whole mess (her album) ever happened.

Nicole Scherzinger is still trying to push those singles/album of hers; this time here in the UK on daytime show GMTV. Providing that the song is trash (sorry, call me a hater or whatever), she did a great job...lipsynching. At this point, any hope of the album being any good is lost (for me), but she always has the Pussycat Dolls to fall back on, I guess.

Pussycat Doll front-woman, Nicole Scherzinger, recently performed her new single 'Baby Love' on Pepsi Smash. Blah. Sorry but the song is straight garbage. What's worst is that her label really seem to be hoping for this song to do big things, so much so that they are billing it as the album's 'first official single'. I guess they are hoping we forget about the major flop that was 'Whatever You Like'.

With the release of her album 'Her Name Is Nicole' drawing nearer (November 6th), Nicole Scherzinger is doing the promo rounds in support of the project - this time hitting up Yahoo's Pepsi Smash. The Pussycat Doll front-woman performed the album's lead single 'Whatever You Like'. Though the song is still the pits, I did like the performance. It's a shame the material she is putting out isn't up to par as she has the potential to be big; judging by the little hype surrounding the project, it seems many feel the same way.

Ok, so I've been less than thrilled with alot of what Nicole Scherzinger has had on offer as a solo artist and this song/video has done nothing to change that. 'Baby Love' is the 2nd single to be lifted from Scherzinger's 'Her Name Is Nicole' album. Put simply, neither the track or the video are up-to-par; everything seems in place for Nicole to be a solo superstar e.g. the girl-group leader, label backing etc, yet she has yet to deliver anything of substance. This cookie-cutter mush isn't likely to propel her to the heights she is capable of achieving.

Damn! It's like Nicole is everywhere this week. Yet another track from her album 'Her Name Is Nicole' has surfaced. Produced by Will.i.am, 'Baby Love' has been confirmed as the official 2nd single and not 'Super Villain' - as first reported. The pop-friendly track is reminiscent of the Pussycat Dolls 'Stickwitchu' - only difference is that this is a lot worse. With it's infantile lyrics and overall 'too sweet, it's sickening' vibe, the track just isn't doing it for me. Judging from the tracks I've heard so far, Nicole is really looking to emulate the Pussycat Dolls mould with radio friendly Pop/R&B tracks -but so far she's fallen short - way short.

Following the premiere of Nicole's 'Whatever You Like' video yesterday (August 16th), the Pussycat Doll front-woman performed the song live on 'So You Think You Can Dance'. The performance was 'ok' - nothing more or nothing less. I'm not being harsh on her, it's just that I'm underwhelmed with everything Nicole has offered as a solo star so far.

This is apparently the official cover art for the 'Her Name Is Nicole' album.

Nice. Word has it that the album has been pushed back again. What's up this year with album push-backs? Anyway, the CD's release has been moved from October 16th to November 6th. I'm guessing the plan will be to release more than one single before the album drops. Nicole will now have to compete with Alicia Keys' which comes out on the same day.

At long last, the video for Nicole Scherzinger's debut solo single 'Whatever You Like' has premiered. For the record, I like Nicole and definitely believe she has potential - but both the song and video are straight garbage. Nothing about the concept made any sense to me and the one thing she could have done to redeem herself - deliver with the choreography - she didn't. The T.I. feature didn't sway me either, although I'm sure their interaction in the vid will have tongues wagging. I expected her to come harder than this, yet so far she has failed to impress.

Pussycat Doll front-woman Nicole Scherzinger is gearing up for the release of her first solo CD 'Her Name Is Nicole' - due October 16th. This new track, 'Super Villain' - produced by Mad Scientist, is slated to follow lead single 'Whatever You Like' as the next song to be released from the album. The more Pop-orientated track is 'decent' but that's about it. Considering how much Nicole was pushed to the forefront of the Pussycat Dolls, her solo material, thus far, has been pretty disappointing. She's gonna have to do better than this.
