Remy Ma & Papoose Wedding Is Off According to the NY Daily News, the much talked about jailhouse nuptials between rappers Remy Ma and Papoose was cancelled after Papoose tried to smuggle in...wait for it...handcuff keys. Check out the report:

"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," a correction official told the Daily News.

"The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use," the official said.

Now the 29-year-old Brooklyn-born Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - won't be able to see his fiancée until November.

"The visitor was sanctioned by not being able to visit Rikers Island again for six months," the official said. "He was asked to leave."

So was Papoose trying to break out his rap queen, whose real name is Remy Smith, from the joint?

Neither his or her camp were saying - but Remy has every reason to be eager to get cut loose.

The 26-year-old Terror Squad rap princess faces up to 25 years at today's sentencing for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach last July outside a Meatpacking District club.

Papoose was not charged after he voluntarily surrendered the key to authorities.

He was quickly ushered out of the jail and never got to enter the prison island's Rose M. Singer chapel in which the two were set to say their "I do's."

I'm falling over myself here LOL. I mean, what the...

*Update: Remy Ma's sentence was also handed down today:

Remy Ma has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub

The state Supreme Court sentence was handed Tuesday to the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.

Remy Ma, who could have faced up to 25 years in prison, was teary-eyed as she heard the sentence.

She says last summer's shooting was an accident; an appeal is planned.

Correction officials say they called off her weekend wedding at the Rikers Island jail after the groom — fellow rapper Papoose — showed up with a handcuff key.

Remy Ma's lawyer, Ivan Fisher, denies the key could be used to unlock handcuffs. Papoose isn't charged.

Fisher says the two still plan to wed. {Source}

Wedding bells will ring Monday for jailed hip-hop star Remy Ma, who plans to marry her boyfriend, rapper Papoose, on Rikers Island, a source cloPapoosese to the rapper said.

The jailhouse ceremony will take place just a day before Ma is sentenced for shooting an ex-pal during a squabble over money in the Meatpacking District last year.

Ma, 26, whose real name is Remy Smith, and the Brooklyn-born Papoose, nee Shamele Mackie, will each be allowed two guests for the wedding.

Remy Ma Found Guilty On Four ChargesThe verdict in rapper Remy Ma's trial was handed down today; Ma, real name Remy Smith, was found guilty on four major charges - two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion and criminal possession of a weapon. The charges stem from a 2007 incident that saw Remy almost-fatally shoot a former friend during an argument over $3000.

During the course of the trial, Remy's defence team contended that the shooting was an 'accident' - obviously not convincing the jury in the process.

Remy was not found guilty of the remaining charges, which included gang assault and witness tampering. Word has it the victim's family and friends taunted Remy when the verdicts were read - causing chaos in the courtroom.

The former Terror Squad star could face anywhere between 5 to 25 years in jail. {Source}

I can't say this isn't deserved...

Remy Ma's Lawyer: Remy Ma's attorney admitted in the closing arguments of rapper's case today that the former Terror Squad star did, in fact, shoot her friend during disagreement in July last year. Check out the report via MTV.com:

Lawyer Ivan Fisher called the shooting, which left Makeda Barnes-Joseph hospitalized, an accident. Fisher claimed Remy Ma (real name: Reminisce Smith) and Barnes-Joseph struggled over the latter's bag when the two argued over missing money after leaving a birthday celebration for a mutual acquaintance. The former Terror Squad star accused Barnes-Joseph of pocketing upward of $3,000 in cash.

Fisher told the jury the women's hands hit the rearview mirror of Barnes-Joseph's car during the tussle and the gun then went off, according to AP.

"There is no other explanation for why Remy Smith would have chosen that unique moment in time to shoot her," Fisher said.

The surprising admission was a far cry from Fisher's opening remarks when he attempted to characterize Barnes-Joseph as a celebrity groupie who was misrepresenting the nature of the events in order to win money from the "Lean Back" rapper. In December, Barnes-Joseph filed a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit against Remy Ma.

In July, Remy vehemently denied shooting Barnes-Joseph. When reporters gathered around the rapper's New Jersey home, she maintained her innocence.

"I didn't shoot my friend!" she yelled.

Jury deliberation in the case begins Tuesday. If convicted, Remy Ma could face up to 25 years in prison.
Looks like it's a done deal for Remy. I really cannot see a jury believing her paper-thin alibi, I mean come on now. Then again, with celebs increasingly getting preferential treatment by what's supposed to be a justice system, anything could happen.

Remy Ma & Papoose Engaged According to AllHipHop.com, rappers Remy Ma and Papoose are engaged to be married this summer. The news was announced on BET's Black Carpet show yesterday. They'll sure be needing each other in the coming months, as the report below points out:
The strength of their relationship will certainly be tested, as jury selection has begun for Remy Ma’s trial for the alleged shooting of an acquaintance over money.

The Grammy nominated rapper is accused of shooting a woman twice in the abdomen after leaving a party in Greenwich Village.

Remy, 26, who allegedly accused Makeda Barnes-Joseph of stealing $2,000 from her purse, has pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges.

The pair will probably be using their superior lyrical abilities soon after another alleged assault occurred between Papoose and Fat Joe.

Fat Joe and Papoose recently clashed in a physical altercation that has sparked an intense beef.
I didn't even know these two were going together. Move over, Nas and Kelis lol lol lol...not.

Former Terror Squad rapper Remy Ma stopped by a radio station to respond to a recent diss track directed toward her by Lil' Kim:
“That little boy better leave me alone,” Remy said referring to Lil Kim. “ She was saying ‘I’m going at [Remy] hard, she go hard to me so I go hard back’. I feel like if that’s going at me hard, like seriously, I’m just gonna chill out. That’s crazy to me.”

“What did she say? ‘Put it on my lipstick, I was to be busy being conceited’. Like, how could you be conceited, you don’t even like your own face,” Remy continued. “ What are you talking about? Are you serious? How was I supposed to take that offensive.” “I don’t believe you,” stressed Remy. “ You don’t like your nose, you don’t like your cheek , you don’t like your chin, you don’t like your skin color, you don’t like your tits , you don’t like your stomach, you don’t like your teeth. What are you talking about?”

“At the end of the day it’s funny to me. When I really feel like it’s amusing, when I feel like someone’s getting at me, then I’ll drag them all over the first spot that I see them of course,” Remy continued. “ But in the meantime, in between time…like this chic has more ghostwriters than Foxy [Brown]. I just feel like right now she’s reaching,”
Hmmm...I like Kim (moreso than Remy), but she can't be going on at anyone looking the way she does these days. I mean, as much of a mess as Remy is, Kim just..well..watch the vid below to see what I mean:

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of rapper Remy Ma in connection with a shooting in Manhattan during the early hours of this morning. The shooting is alleged to have occurred during a dispute over $2000 - money Remy claimed was stolen from her by the victim. According to reports, the former 'Terror Squad' member fled the scene in a dark blue Cadillac Escalade, which she crashed a few blocks away -opting, then, to flee by foot. The 23 year old female victim - who was shot twice in the torso - is said to be in a stable condition and recovering in hospital. {Click here to read the full story}

Ok, so I knew Remy was a mess, but (nearly) killing for $2000?! Word has it that the victim was a close friend too. There goes what was left of her 'career'. It's jail for this one - and deservedly so.

UPDATE: Remy surrendered herself to police yesterday (July 14th). She has been formally charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Click here to read the latest update.

It has been reported that Remy Ma has officially been released from her deal with Terror Squad/Universal. The New York rapper apparently requested that she be granted the release after the poor performance of her debut solo album 'There's Something About Remy' which sold a disappointing 75,000 in it's opening week. Speaking of her next move, Remy had to say:

I'm sitting in meetings all day, everyday politicking my own label, with me being my first artist...I have so many other projects involving films, TV and endorsements, but most important is my album.

Ok then, whatever you say lol. Ma's release was inevitable after she called out her fellow Terror Squad member Fat Joe on radio last year after her album flopped. What happened to the female rap group Ma, Jackie-O and Shawna were supposed to be in?
