Snoop: Check out this controversial quote on females in the music industry lifted from Snoop Dogg's guest entry on BET.com's 'Hip Hop Vs. America' blog. According to the 'Sensual Seduction' rapper, its only good looking (by who's standards is anyones guess) women that sell records:
"How many ugly women selling records? None! Only the pretty ones sell records. Beyonce, Mary J, Keyshia Cole, the ugly ones don't sell. I ain’t gon say no names, but they don't sell records. They just be singing their little hearts out, but they don't get no sales, cause they ugly. Now, that's my fault? I can see this on TV now: 'Snoop Dogg called me, ugly'. You beautiful on the inside, baby. What I wanna say to go on top of that, to the chocolate women, the dark-skinned women, I love ya'll. I got a chocolate daughter at home. I always tell her chocolate is the best thing in the world".
I'm gonna give Snoop the benefit of the doubt by saying he didn't fully engage his brain before trying to articulate his point. As, on a surface level, what he is saying is arguably true - after all, the Beyonce's and co are more likely to sell better than their less glamorous counter-parts. Where Snoop is wrong IMO, is that he appears to be endorsing such a bias industry standard.

Snoop Dogg recently spoke about his relationship with Dr. Dre on Chicago's Power 92 radio station on the Kendra G show. Though he maintained that everything is cool with his former collaborator, he had some interesting words about why Dre doesn't feature on his new record 'Ego Trippin'' (due March 11th). Check it out:

Check out this remix of Snoop Dogg's latest hit 'Sensual Seduction' featuring the Queen Bee, Lil' Kim. As ever, Kim is her raunchy self and it's pretty good version of the song.

Hit or Miss?

Snoop Dogg stopped by the 'Ellen Degeneres' show earlier this week to perform his latest single 'Sensual Seduction'. Though kinda weary of the song at first, I have to give Snoop his props -he came with something 'different' this time and it turned out great.

In other Snoop news, his reality show 'Snoop Dogg's Father Hood' premieres this Sunday in the US at 10:30/9:30c on the E! channel.

The video for Snoop Dogg's latest video 'Sensual Seduction' made its debut yesterday. I'm kinda shocked that Snoop went through with the concept of the vid, but must say that it worked. Hilarious. It's actually made me like the song a little better now. The track is the first to be lifted from his 9th studio album 'Ego Trippin' (due early 2008).

With Snoop Dogg set to release his new album 'Ego Trippin'' early nex year, the set's first single 'Sexual Eruption' has surfaced. To be honest, I can't say I'm liking this one all that much. IMO Snoop has yet to recapture that 'something' that made his 2004 effort 'Rhythm and Gangsta' such a hit-spawning CD. For the record, it isn't T-Pain on the song's hook.

Hit or Miss?

As Kelly Rowland's new single 'Ghetto' (ft. Snoop Dogg) continues to gain momentum on Urban radio, pics from the video shoot have surfaced. The Andrew Gura directed vid is set to premiere tomorrow (September 10th) on BET's Access Granted. Be sure to keep it locked on That Grape Juice for the goods tomorrow.

Snoop Dogg is joining the ever-increasing number of celebrities who star in their own reality series. According to E, the 'Drop It Like Its Hot' rapper is currently filming the half hour per-episode show - which his family will also star in. The concept of the series will revolve around the daily happenings in the life of Snoop and his household.

Hasn't this been done already with 'Run's House' (which I feel is heavily scripted BTW)? Still, I'll probably tune in to see what it's saying. The as-yet untitled series is set to debut later this year.

Will you be tuning into Snoop's show?
