As the release of Usher's much anticipated LP 'Here I Stand' draws ever-nearer, new material seems to be 'surfacing left, right and center - one the more recent being 'Trading Places'. After being, somewhat, underwhelmed with the cuts that I've heard thus far (aside from 'Love In The Club - Pt. II), I'm really liking this. Though lyrically the song is kinda lacking (it's an engaging concept though), Usher's flow and the production (which ironically sounds a lit like Chris Brown's 'You') make for a really great track. 'Here I Stand' hits stores May 27th.Labels: Usher
R&B star Usher recently spoke on the young talent in the today's industry - more specifically teen singer Chris Brown:Usher has hailed fellow singer Chris Brown as a younger version of himself - insisting the star will “follow the same path”. Usher, 29, was just 15 when he released his self-titled debut album in 1994 and has gone on to forge a highly successful music career. And Usher is convinced Brown, 19, is all set to follow in his footsteps and dominate the R&B scene.
He says, “All of this young energy is great for the industry. Chris is the guy who dances and sings, which is a lot like I do and did as a young artist as well. If time serves us correctly, and artists are continuing to better themselves, then hopefully he’ll follow the same path that I did.” {Source}
While it's good to see Usher giving props to the crop of younger stars on the come-up, I can't help but feel he's a tad on the self-indulgent side. I mean after all, he along with the Justin's and co are evidently still students at the 'Michael Jackson School of Performing'. To be honest, I can't pick any one male artist of today that has carved out a lasting trademark in the way the MJ's and Prince's did.

Fresh off the chart-topping success of Usher's 'Love In The Club', 'Part II' has surfaced featuring Beyonce and Lil' Wayne. New vocals, new production, new everything. I'm actually feeling this a lot more than the original. Awesome.Labels: Beyonce, Lil' Wayne, Usher

R&B star Usher is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated new album 'Here I Stand' - the official cover for which surfaced today. Originally scheduled to drop in the June, the album's release date was pushed up following the chart-topping success of its first single 'Love In The Club'. Labels: Usher
R&B star Usher was spotted out shopping with wife Tameka and, for the first time, their son Usher Raymond V. Word has it, the couple were in negotiations with a number of magazines for exclusive rights to the first pics of the baby, but things fell through; I'm still not a fan of that practice. Anyway, you can check out the vid via TMZ by clicking here Labels: Usher
Following the success of Usher's comeback smash 'Love In The Club', this new remix of the t#1 song has surfaced. Though, for the most part, the track remains the same - Atlanta rapper T.I. drops a verse on the remix. It's pretty good.Labels: Usher
The much anticipated video for Usher's #1 smash 'Love In The Club' made its debut little over an hour ago. What can I say, other than it's ON-POINT! Having seen the preview earlier this month, it appeared as if the clip would be a rehash of his 2004's 'Yeah' vid, however the full vid proves otherwise. Considering the song's subject-matter etc, I wasn't really expecting the level of grandeur or thought put into the vid's concept, but I'm pleasantly surprised. The concept, the choreography, the cameos (Diddy, Kanye and Keri Hilson)...I'm liking everything. 'Love In The Club' is lifted from Usher's forthcoming album 'Here I Stand', which originally due in June, has been pushed up to May 27th.
What do you think of the video?

Visually, while the vid looks great, I can't help but notice the obvious similarities between this and the vid for his 2004 hit 'Yeah'. Not sure what I'm thinking of that. Still, the choreography - which was choreographed by Jamaica - looks on-point. The video in its entirety will debut next Monday (April 7th).

R&B star Usher will no doubt have cause to celebrate this week. The singer's new single, the Polow Da Don produced 'Love In The Club' has jumped a whopping 50 places claim the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. 'Love In The Club' is the first single to be lifted from Usher's 5th studio album which is tentatively titled 'Here I Stand'.Labels: Usher
Despite only just being released digitally this week, Usher's latest effort 'Love In The Club' has already hit #1 on the iTunes singles chart. As well as guaranteeing that the song makes a major impact on the Billboard Hot 100 next week, it serves as an indication to the level of anticipation for his upcoming album. I've always maintained that Usher wouldn't be able to top his mega-selling 'Confessions' LP creatively or sales-wis;, however, with the way things are going, he may just prove the naysayers wrong.Labels: Usher
Despite there not being a release date for Usher's forthcoming album, more material from the as-yet-untitled set have surfaced - 'I Can't Win' and the full version of 'Moving Mountains' (a snippet of which was posted earlier this month).Labels: Usher
Though there is no affirmative release date or info about Usher's much-anticipated new album, material from the LP is surfacing thick and fast. Some of you may have heard a snippet of the Polow Da Don produced 'Love In The Club' that was floating around last year. The full version of the track has since hit the net and, I must say, that I'm liking it. Judging by the mid-tempo cut, as well as the other material I've heard, Usher is evolving musically, which is great. LISTEN: Love In The Club (ft. Young Jeezy) (MQ)

With Usher hard at work on his forthcoming, as-yet-untitled, album, a snippet of new material has surfaced. It's rumored 'Moving Mountains' was produced by man-of-the-moment Timbaland. In any case, the track has me real amped for Usher's LP. The mid-tempo cut sounds like a mesh of Timbo's 'Apologize' and your vintage Bryan Michael Cox piano-ballad. I'm surmising from this, that Usher has kinda taken the sound from the last album 'Confessions' and upped it to the next level.Labels: Usher
According to Access Hollywood, R&B star Usher's father, Usher Raymond III, passed away in an Atlanta hospital on this past Friday (January 19th). As of writing, the cause of death is unknown. Funeral arrangements are set to be announced shortly {Source}Labels: Usher
In a recent interview with the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, R&B star Usher detailed plans he has for a collaboration between himself, T-Pain and the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Speaking of the song, the 'Yeah' singer said:“It’s been created, but it’s not recorded," Usher explained to the newspaper. "And as long as Michael is open to it, hey, anything goes.”Elaborating more his forthcoming album, he added:
I’ve been diligently working on creating a masterpiece," he said of the project. "It’s going to be out first or maybe the second quarter. I see the second quarter of next year. And there will be a video and single out at the top of the year. … I think [Atlanta producer] Polow Da Don is going to have the first one. I think that’s going to be the single 'Love In The Club.'”An Usher - MJ collaboration sounds like an interesting concept. Why T-Pain is being thrown into the mix is beyond me. Yes, he's the 'it' artist of the moment, but for how long will that be? Anyway, you can hear a snippet of the single likely to be the first from Usher's album, by clicking here. Sounds pretty good to me.

As 2007 winds down to an end, I can't help but think that some of the best R&B releases were held off until now. For, judging by these two new tracks, the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul Mary J. Blige appears to bringing 'it' on her forthcoming new album 'Growing Pains' (due December 18th). Labels: Mary J. Blige, Usher
It appears the controversy surrounding the women in Usher's life has simmered following the birth of his son earlier this week. News of spats between his mom Jonnetta Patton and wife Tameka Foster has rampant for months, however Patton had nothing but good things to say when speaking to PEOPLE magazine about the new addition to the family: I'm extremely excited and filled with joy about the birth of my grandson, Usher Raymond V," Patton says. "He is beautiful, precious, healthy and such a blessing. I'm very happy for my son and his wife. God has truly blessed them with a special gift. This will be an amazing holiday season for all of us."
