Whitney Wows At London Show According to reports, singing legend Whitney Houston gave a show-stopping performance at a concert in London this week for the Caudwwell''s Children Charity {Thanks Terrence & Kevin}:
Whitney Houston stunned her critics last night by delivering a spectacular performance in aid of the Caudwell Children charity.

Dressed to kill, Whitney wore Chopard diamond earrings and a diamond ring from the luxury jewellers AND was paid £100,000.

But the real surprise came when the diva brought daughter, Bobbi Kristina, 15, on stage to join her for a rendition of My Love is Your Love.

But Whitney told the crowd, which included Joan Collins and Buzz Aldrin: "This is the love of my life."

Despite attempts to keep media out, theBuzz sneaked a peek at Whitney’s one hour set at Battersea Evolution.

Donning a tight dress by British designers Bodyamr, Whitney, 44, performed several hits including I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Saving All My Love and, of course, I Will Always Love You.

Whitney, whose career was halted by drug abuse and who in 2006 ended a turbulent relationship with Bobby Brown, told the audience: "I’m back in the studio and working on new tracks.

"It’s an honour to be here. I’ve had ups and downs, but it’s all good."Sandi Thom, an opening act for the American star, confided in theBuzz: "This is probably the most nerve-racking moment of my life."

The event raised £1.5m and a dinner date with Joan Collins was auctioned off for £200,000. {Source}

It's great to see Whitney making progress on the comeback trail. Here's hoping she delivers with the new album.

As reported yesterday, Whitney Houston performed at Tobago's Plymouth Jazz Festival on Sunday. Reports have been suggesting the 44 year old disappointed with her set, however you can judge for yourself by watching her rendition of 'I Will Always Love You' at the show below:

Hmm. Not as bad as I thought, yet still left a lot to be desired. On the one hand, it's great to see her sing with a clear, polished tone; however 'The Voice' was largely absent from this overly safe performance - showing itself sporadically between the 'talky' majority. Still, watching this offers hope that Whitney could very well crank out a successful well-sung 'Studio LP' (See: Mariah Carey). Whether her unmatched live vocal ability returns to past glories will be interesting to see. Whitney's much-anticipated new album is tentatively slated for a November release.

What do you think of the performance?

Whitney Hits A Sour Note In Tobago According to our friends over at AOL Black Voices, Whitney Houston's recent concert at Tobago's Plymouth Jazz Festival yesterday (April 27th) was a shambles:
The 'Greatest Love of All' singer performed on the last night of the festival, just before headliner Rod Stewart took the stage.

Houston opened her show with 'Its Not Right, But Its Okay' and by her third song, 'Saving All My Love,' the once soprano's newfound tenor tone was in full rasp.

Delivering only seven songs during her 30 minute set, Houston was reportedly paid a whopping $3 million for the show.

Though journalists were flown in from all over the world, Houston refused to allow media and photographers within 200 feet of the stage. She brought her own photographer to the venue and only he was allowed to shoot her performance.

Wearing a white gown with a single shoulder strap, Houston skipped around the stage and continuously shouted to the crowd: "I love you Trinidad !'

Unfortunately, the concert was in Tobago!

Locals shouted back each time: "This is Tobago!"

The 44-year-old music icon ambitiously attempted 'And I'll Always Love You,' however she struggled through the build up and knew better than attempt the high finish.

She bowed and then squatted after her pseudo-encore of Chaka Khan's 'I'm Every Woman,' which Houston also recorded for 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack.
With the continued reports of Whitney's diminished vocal state, I'm beginning to wonder whether making a 'comeback' is in her best interest (the album is slated for a November release). For, I'm more than sure she'll be torn to shreds by the media and public alike should she attempt to turn in such performances back home in the States. Here's hoping she gets herself together ASAP.

Whitney & Ray J Attend Vegas Fight NightWhitney Houston and rumored boyfriend Ray stepped out together for the second time this week, heightening speculation that they are, indeed, a couple. The pair posed for pictures while sitting front-row centre at the Hopkins vs. Calzaghe boxing match in Las Vegas, Nevada last night. While, I'll reserve my judgement on them dating, it's great to see Whitney looking happy and healthy. Tidbit: Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina also accompanied her mother.

Whitney & Ray J Spotted Out Together
Prior to now, many had assumed the stranger than strange 'relationship' between singing diva Whitney Houston and Ray J had ended. However the pair were snapped last night in Atlanta entering HOT 107.9’s Hip-Hop fashion show. Word has it that Houston, who at 44 is 17 years older than Ray J, held hands with the 'Sexy Can I' singer and that the pair were 'all over each other'.

Whether this is a publicity stunt (for Ray J, of course) or actually genuine, it's not a good look for Whitney. I mean, its Ray J...

Whitney Houston & Dionne Warwick A glowing Whitney Houston attended Muhammed Ali's Celebrity Fight XIV yesterday with her aunt Dionne Warwick yesterday at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Arizona. Warwick had the following to say about the now-stabilized Houston:
“Whitney Houston is back! I’m thrilled that she’s in the studio and working on her new album. No doubt she’s overcoming everything that has been put in front of her even this week.”

There's no doubt she was referring to the extracts Bobby Brown's upcoming autobiography which surfaced earlier this week. In any case, Whitney definitely looks to be in great shape (the twins were sitting right lol).

Also in attendance at the event, which saw Whitney present Ali with an award onstage, was her 'Bodyguard' co-star Kevin Costner. Check out the pic of the pair below:

Bobby Brown: Troubled singer Bobby Brown is set to release his autobiography next month. Expectedly, his controversial marriage to ex-wife Whitney Houston is a topic the former New Edition star doesn't shy away from. Check out extracts via The New York Post below:
"I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice," Brown writes in "Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But," out next month. "At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine."

As far as his 15-year marriage to Houston is concerned, it "was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow," Brown writes. "I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children."

Whitney, he alleges, had been under "a lot of pressure. The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn't go too well with her image . . . In Whitney's situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world."

But Brown notes that he was no saint in their relationship, confessing in his book, "I am guilty of sleeping with other women . . . Women are always throwing themselves at you. I'm only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes . . . I let the testosterone take over."

One of his most public indiscretions was an affair with former exotic dancer Karrine "Superhead" Steffans. "Yes, I've slept with her," he confesses. "Yes, I've spent several nights at her house. But she was only good for what her nickname stood for."

Reps for Houston, who divorced Brown a year ago, did not return our call for comment.
SMH at him attempting portray himself as the innocent party - for the most part. The way I see it, they were a mismatched pair to begin with. It really says a lot about his current predicament, if he has to resort to pimping details of his former marriage for money, instead of...(shock horror)...actually working. Random tidbit: LMAO at the Superhead comment!

It has been announced that viva Whitney Houston will hit London to play a special concert on May 8th. Check out the report via Contact Music:
WHITNEY HOUSTON is set to make her live comeback in London on 8 May (08). Organisers of the Caudwell Children's Legend Ball in Battersea have revealed they've booked the diva for a charity show. Charity founder John Caudwell tells Britain's Marie Claire magazine, "We are thrilled to have an artist of Whitney's calibre to headline the event." The comeback concert isn't a big surprise - Tina Turner came out of retirement to perform at the charity's 2007 gala, which helped Caudwell raise over $2 million (GBP1 million) for disabled children. Houston is currently recording a new album with her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis, who claims the comeback project will be released in November (08).

Great news about the concert; it's been a long while since Whitney hit the UK. An album release in November, though? How long has she been working on it for? Anyway, here's hoping she brings her 'A Game', as I've always felt Whitney's 'comeback' would be the most likely. As, unlike others, her appeal is solely with her voice and not reliant on any kind of sexy image. Any of the singles from her last successful release 'My Love Is Your Love' could be a hit today IMO. I guess time will tell.

2008 is really is shaping up the year of the divas - Janet, Mariah, Madonna, Whitney; a certain Ms. Knowles is set to release her third album in November too.

Singing legend Whitney Houston kick-started her 'comeback' campaign in front of a 10,000 strong crowd at Malaysia's Live & Loud music festival yesterday (December 1st). Reviews of the 44-year old star's set have been generally very positive. You can listen to some of her set below and make your own judgments. I, personally, thought she did very well considering the circumstances, which has me optimistic about her new album.

How do you think Whitney did?

A radiant looking Whitney Houston confirmed that she will be taking to the stage at the Live & Loud music festival in Malaysia on December 1st. The renown diva will perform a one-hour set of her many hits.

Like everyone else, I'm anxious to see if she still has 'it' in her. I'm rooting for her all the same and hope she pulls it off.

Do you think Whitney can have a successful comeback?

As reported earlier this week, Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the public eye at the Fashion Rocks 2007 event here in London. Check out the video of her appearance, as well the performance she introduced- Sugababes and Patti Labelle performing 'Lady Marmalade':

Sugababes & Patti Labelle - 'Lady Marmalade'

Whitney really looks to have gotten herself together; she looked and sounded great. I enjoyed the 'Lady Marmalade' performance - until Patti came out. She's a legend, no doubt about that, but vocally she was a mess - nearly killing the performance with random and annoying screaming.

What do you think of Whitney's appearance / the performance?

Singing legend Whitney Houston made a surprise appearance at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event here at London's Royal Albert Hall yesterday (October 18th). Houston, whose appearance had not been announced prior to her walking on stage, dazzled in a white Valentino diamond-encrusted dress to introduce the final catwalk show of the night.

When arriving on the red-carpet, alongside daughter Bobbi-Kristina, Houston delivered the following message: "I know it’s been said before but I want to say it again - thank you for your support and, yes, I will always love you.”

As the pic shows, she looked stunning. Next year needs to roll around fast, as I can't wait to hear if she's still got 'it' in her to silence the naysayers.

Singer Whitney Houston gave a surprise performance at the 2007 Sisters Conference with CeCe Winans. The pair performed their 1996 hit 'Count On Me' from the 'Waiting To Exhale' soundtrack. Though brief, it sounds like Whitney's voice is back in great shape. I'm really waiting on that comeback album of hers. If the material is on-point (like the 'My Love Is Your Love' CD), then she may be onto a winner.

Whitney Houston has been awarded sole custody of her and Bobby Brown's daughter, Bobbi-Kristina (14) in a divorce hearing on Wednesday. The divorce of the controversial couple was been approved by the courts and will become final on April 24th. Check out an extract of the PEOPLE.com report:

At times dabbing her eyes with a tissue during the court session, Houston testified that she did not require spousal or child support and that Bobbi Kristina could not depend on her father.

"He's unreliable," Houston said of Brown, according to the Associated Press. "If he says he's going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn't."

Houston declined to comment to reporters after the hearing. Attorney Ram Cogan, representing Brown (who did not attend the hearing), said he will file a petition on behalf of his client to overturn the judge's decision.

Houston filed for legal separation from Brown on Sept. 8, and then filed for divorce in mid-October.

On Dec. 28, she requested a default judgment to fast-track the dissolution of the marriage.
Since their separation, Houston has been recording a new album with J Records president Clive Davis in Los Angeles.

Whitney ain't playing. She's making moves to sort out her life, yet there's no sign of Bobby doing the same; she deserves Bobbi-Kristina. So much for the friendly relationship Bobby claimed he and Whitney were maintaining.

Fox News is reporting that music superstar Whitney Houston is to start the recording of her new album today.

Houston is booked for sessions with renown writer/producer/artist Johnta Austin . Austin won a Grammy for co-writing Mariah Carey's mega hit "We Belong Together." His other credits include work for Mary J Blige and Janet Jackson. Hopefully he can work his magic on Whitney's project too.

Clive Davis - Whitney's longtime mentor/label boss- has already decided on about seven songs for Houston, including those by R. Kelly, Diane Warren and other big-name producers.

Her comeback is shaping up to be BIG.

Whitney and Ray J were seen leaving a restaurant together in Beverley Hills on Wednesday. I did not believe the stories about these two being an item and I'm still not sure. Something sure is going on though. The video below shows Whitney blowing kisses to Ray J once they part to their individual cars and she can be heard telling him 'that sh*t is off the chain' LOL. This is the oddest couple in a long while; yes Ray J sucks but you can't fault Whitney for getting hers.

Bobby Brown says that he is still "friends" with his soon-to-be ex-wife Whitney Houston.

The 'I Will Always Love You ' singer filed for divorce from Brown in October last year- after 14 years of marriage; however Brown insists that the pair are maintaining a civilised relationship for the sake of their 13-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.

He told People Magazine: "We're trying to work everything out so the divorce goes right – not like a Hollywood divorce. We're friends, you know. We're friends.

"We have been close because of who we are together, and what that child (Bobbi Kristina) means to us. She's the greatest thing in both of our lives. We just appreciate each other now that we know the direction that we both want to go."

I suppose it's good that they are being adult about the situation. As bad as it may sound, I think they are better off without each other- so lets hope it stays 'friends' and nothing more.
